Windowns Rights Management & MOSS

SharePoint only protect your content by controlling who could access the documents, however, it will not be able to protect the documents outside its environment. This is where you would need Windows Rights Management Services (RMS).

This is a great walkthrough published by Russell Wright from SharePoint Solutions if you are looking at protecting your SharePoint content using Windows Rights Management Services (RMS).

Integrating MOSS 2007 with Community Server Membership

Search Server 2008 Express….And it's FREE

Microsoft has just released the RC for Search Server 2008 Express. I can say that it is almost similar or totally the same as SharePoint Search Server, guess the only caveat is that it can only be installed on application server. But it is free, not a big drawback I would say. And it can be upgraded to MOSS 2007.

Just like WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007, it can be installed using SQL Server Express 2005 with Basic installation or using your existing SQL Server 2005….

It has almost all of the features if not all the features of MOSS 2007….hhmmm, now WSS 3.0 seems more attractive isnt it and we can have a search engine in our own application

Here are some the features if you are not familar with MOSS 2007:

Search Center interface
Customizable search experience
Best Bets
Hit Highlighting
Terms Definition or Keywords in MOSS 2007
Index propagation to search server
Support IFilter
Search Connector or Protocol Handler in MOSS 2007
Federated Search Connector using Open Search standard (hhmm….dun think it is even in MOSS 2007)

TechEd SEA 2007 is now over…

Back from TechEd SEA 2007 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This has been a great event, with more than 2400+ attendees and more than 7 tracks. And it is definitely a good place to network and kinda get away from work and relax a bit. Particularly the GeekOut2 nite, where everybody seems to let go and dance the nite away at Zouk (dance club)

There were a few BPM or Workflow solutions company present there:

K2
Skelta
Nintex

And I was able to get in touch with what they have to offer, and I must all looks pretty impressive.

Last but not least, I have a great time meeting the following people:

Tafiti…Silverlight + Live Search

This is a great looking and cool search application….and useful too. You can save your searches as long as you have Windows Live ID and check out the tree view, it works just like a mindmap…

So what is Tafiti?
