WOW!

Microsoft has released a couple video clips of one of the projects they are working on in live labs called Photosynth.  This project photomerges all the photos it can index on the web to give you a 3D view of the world.  It really is amazing!

check out the clips here:

Mysterious Obfuscated List Views

July 20th, 2006 by gruz

All lists have a set of supporting files for the Display Item Form, the Add Item Form and the Edit Item Form

You can find these settings by cracking open the list in FrontPage.  I know…  FrontPage bad – IE good..  But changing these list settings do not unghost your list pages, and you can only change them through FrontPage.  Right click on the list, and select properties — then select the Supporting Files tab.

Above the supporting files options you should see an option to select the default view of the page.  However, this box does not allow you to type in the page you want — instead, the dropdown shows all the pages on the current site that contain any type of view of the current list.  This would normally be one of the views you created for the list, but it also allows you to create a completely separate web part page on your site and add a list view web part or a Data View web part (DVWP) to the web part page, and have the page automagically show up in the options for the list's default view.

This means you can obfuscate your list by creating your own page with a dataview, and then whenever a user clicks a link to your list, they go directly to your web part page instead.  Make sure you remember the original url so you can still edit your list!

Wow… My very first blog! Thanks to Bil Simser for convincing me to get out into the community and start sharing. I hope to provide all sorts of tips and tricks that I find for SharePoint specifically, as well as other web design tips, anything Microsoft, and other tools that make my job easier.
