As mentioned elsewhere, I have developed an additional upload page which uses the normal upload multiple documents screen, but subsequently navigates to my own custom layouts page. To do this I created a new, blank layouts page and developed a page that would display a list of documents and provide some functionality around them. By creating my own custom action under the upload menu I was able to get my page to load after the standard upload page. I shall post a full instructions on how to do this when I find time (as ever). If anyone would like this sooner rather than later then leave a comment.
