I am a pretty big cod player and had my 360 since about 6 months after they originally release, however it needed to be replaced this year. I purchased one on amazon a while back and then the unit went on sale for a better price about 2 weeks later. I love my 360 but am not to happy with my purchase from amazon. To get the better price I had to order a new xbox and request a return on my old one. Instead of amazon offering a price adjustment, I had to pay for the 2nd box, pay shipping to return the previously purchase one and wait for the refund to hit my credit card. Amazon does most of the things right on here but definitely needs to chage this as any retailer will do a price adjustment with-in 30 days if the item goes on sale. Rating this purchase at 3 stars because of the hassle involved in getting the better deal but the xbox itself has been great.

Just wanted to warn everyone. After having the “open tray” error on two, brand new Xbox 360 arcades in the past, I thought they would have fixed this error when I shelled out $280.00 for the “‘09 Winter Elite” bundle.. The console came and I used it mildly, thinking i’ve FINALY found a version of the 360 where the DVD-ROM doesn’t fail. I played maybe one or two games on the dvd-rom and within 20 days I got the “open tray” error. Thankfully, amazon is going to do a full replacement for my elite. I am glad I double checked with Amazon before requesting my 7th ( Yes 7th!) warranty order though Microsoft. Microsoft will just send you a remanufactured 360. I’ve been down that road three different times. Each remanufactured 360 STILL, amazingly, gave me the “open tray error”. I really enjoy this console, but never in my life have I had so many problems with a product. For those of you familiar with the “open tray” error; just a friendly reminder, the ‘09 winter elite gave me the same error within 20 days of purchase. Hopefully, this new replacement will come with a updated DVD-rom drive. I think Microsoft needs to do a serious revamp of firmware on these Lite-on drives.

I purchased this system and games for my 15 year old son for Christmas. He can’t get enough of it, and he loves to play on-line with both his friends and other unknown competitors.

If you are looking to buy an Xbox 306.. do yourself a favor and buy this bundle. Not only does it come with two games (which are not system sellers but a good addition) it also comes with 120 GB hard drive and a HDMI slot. It also comes with a wireless controller and a wired headset. These are all great additions to the system. Considering that Amazon is now bundling a $50 gift card with every purchase, this item is a steal in my opinion. If you are planning to buy an Xbox, spend the additional $100 and buy this system. You will not regret it.
Now, let me get to the rants. No WIRELESS!! Seriously Microsoft, this is not 2006. You cannot ask people to buy a $70 wireless adapter in 2010 when both Wii and PS3 have it built in to their systems.
No HD cables. I understand most people still have SDTVs. The included cables can only output 480p. Most games on Xbox don’t even support this mode anymore. Sure, the graphics are fine but you will end up with having to deal with blurry text in most games if you are playing with the standard cables shipped with Xbox. I suggest you get the HD cables from Microsoft for another $25 or so.
Paying for Xbox live gold. The Wii online service and PS3 online service are both free. However, Xbox live is about $40 per year (usually $50). You will get a month of Xbox live trial gold with a purchase of this system. You will need it to stream Netflix movies, access Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm. The silver account is free but it is as good as not having an online service at all. (My suggestion is to snag it on ebay for $30 or less). There is also no browser like Wii or PS3.
Other than the three things mentioned above, Xbox is a great system to play games. It already has a lot of great games to play. Most of them are available as Platinum Hits for a $20-$30 price range (about half as much as they initially sold for). There are also great new games like Dragon Age, Mass effect, Final Fantasy. Many more new games are coming this year including Microsoft’s motion controller Project Natal. You will have ton of games to play. I will not compare it to PS3 as I do not own one. Comparing it to Wii (which I do own) will not do justice for either of them. They are both catered to different kinds of gamers.
